"Age of Ultron" was also full of drama and conflict, peppered with jokes and wisecracks, trademarks of its director Joss Whedon, who is well loved by many as the creator of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly." Black Widow got more screen time and a glimpse of backstory, and there's so much action, I can't imagine anyone getting bored during this movie. I liked this version of Quicksilver better, personally. Different actor and different backstory, but don't let that worry you too much. Wasn't Quicksilver in the last "X-Men" movie? Yep. The twins - also known as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver - were a great addition. As the Avengers team begins to fall apart, Ultron sets his sights on destroying all mankind.įirst, I'll say there were some really incredible things about "Avengers: Age of Ultron" that I personally loved seeing.

He does so with the help of Wanda and Pietro Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson), two super-powered twins with a grudge against Tony after their family was killed by weapons his company created. He should have paid more attention to the lessons found in "Frankenstein," because soon Ultron (voiced wonderfully by James Spader) becomes the story's villain, out to destroy the Avengers because he sees them as the biggest threat to the world he's been designed to protect. I don't want to give away too many spoilers, but the main plot kicks into gear when Tony sets out to create peacekeeping artificial intelligence named Ultron to protect the world. All of the main characters from the first movie are back: Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Natasha/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). Unless you hate movies and never watch television, you probably know "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is the much-anticipated sequel to "The Avengers," the third highest-grossing movie of all time. Honestly, I'm glad I didn't have any kids in tow, but I'll expand on that statement later. They're one of my guilty pleasures, so of course I caught one of the first showings of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" Thursday night before it officially opened and without any kids in tow.
